'Pete Brewer' Scholarship Winners

By HCCA President, Terry Cantrell

The Hollywood Council of Civic Associations (HCCA) hosts a student scholarship program every year in honor of the late North Central Hollywood civic activist and former President of the HCCA, Peter Brewer. Pete was a strong advocate for his area and for City residents in general. He was a fixture at City Commission meetings, always looking out for the residents and taxpayer’s best interest. In his honor, the HCCA Board of Directors has created this scholarship program using proceeds from the popular Be Mine Dog Show held each February at Stan Goldman Park. Student applicants complete a form and submit resumes that are reviewed by the Be Mine Committee. The HCCA thanks all the sponsors and participants and, in particular, Commissioner’s Traci Callari and Peter Hernandez for all their help with this year’s event. Here is a list of the Hollywood students who will each receive the $1,000.00 award this year:

- Timi Adelakun, South Broward High School
- Adam Lei, McFatter Technical High School
- Mia Marques, McFatter Technical High School
- Jasmine Sanchez, South Broward High School
- Karina Umana, South Broward High School

The HCCA congratulates these well deserving local students!
